Every time I see this I think "I am Unknown"! I have definitely been saying this for a while, but I'm probably not the only one who has thought of this. :-) In any case, I wholeheartedly agree!
I don't think this is hard for adoptive parents to understand. I think they understand this fully well and cannot handle the fact that they are not the only people who their adopted child may love. They don't want to "share" the affections of those children. They want it all for themselves. I have learned this the hard way. It is selfish, possessive greed. No other way around it.
I, too, say this often. I am thrilled that my 8 year old loves his step mom. I know it's not the same, but it is still him loving two moms. I wish with all my heart that all adoptive parents could understand this, too.
